COOPERATION, not COMPETITION: Our contribution to Real Estate Evolution

By
Real Estate Agent with EPRE BRE 00997989

Two years ago, at the start of the down market (although we didn't really know it then) I contacted a core group of Realtors to form a local mastermind group- now called, SANTA MARIA VALLEY'S MOST REFERRED AND PREFERRED REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS. We came together to become individually and professionally more efficient and proficient-as most groups who form do - which is why we all love ActiveRain!

Within 2 months of launching SMVMR&P, I approached a group of local mortgage professionals with similar membership criteria as the former, known as THE INTEGRITY GROUP, Professional Mortgage Lenders.

Up until the last three months, the two groups operated independently with great ideas, agendas and networking.  But the REAL magic happened when they decided to conduct joint meetings, share speakers and invite guests ..and the general discussion has been real-powerful and productive!

I feel proud and privileged to be a part of these two groups who have embraced the true spirit of cooperation for the good of all.  Many communities have groups such as these but if you are thinking of starting your own local group and want some assistance, feel free to contact me.

Sounds like a great idea. Are these agents from different brokerages? How is that working out?

Just don't talk about pricing....

But seriously, there is a NASCAR term called coopetition (obviously cooperation and competition).  Often, competing and cooperating with others is the best way to get the best out of ourselves.

Lane,

Thanks for the post.  I LOVE the term "coopetition".  This will probably be a buzzword in our emerging economy, and it should be..thanks.

All the best! - Pam Adkisson
