Cats Stay out of My Yard!!!!!!

I love cats don't get me wrong I have 2 of my own, but I don't want them in my flowerbeds either, neither do my clients!

Many of my clients have been working on their yards (curb appeal) so potential buyers will have the very best first impression of their homes. Many of my clients are fighting the exact same fight I am (the neighborhood CATS)

Recently after many years of planning and waiting ($$$$) I finally was able to implement my landscape design for my backyard (pictures included) and YES I got a whole unit (7yards) of bark delivered to cover all the hundreds of dollars worth of landscape fabric, it looks so good and I just love how it turned out,

My biggest problem is THE 17 NEIGHBORHOOD CATS, they must have some type of sonar and it has directed them to the biggest and most elaborate litter box of all (my yard), I could just scream!

I went on line and looked for cat repellent and found something it sounded great, it touted Coyote/Fox Urine as a main ingredient they said this formula is incredibly effective in repelling domestic and feral cats and that by applying these granules it would quickly re-direct cats to change their territorial travels and stop using my flower beds and gardens as their litter box.

Well since applying that cat repellent my yard is even more attractive then before to the neighborhood cats, my husband just laughs and say's, "The fox and coyote urine probably just gave all the cats permission to come in and use the facilities…"

I am determined to cure this problem, so my very next purchase will be a motion activated sprinkler system called scarecrow, not only do I think this will solve my dilemma but it should bring many opportunities to get footage for America’s Funniest Videos too...

Wish me luck and if you know of any other options please share!

My wife is going to read this so I have to be careful here.  We love animals as well, but I draw the line when they intrude to that degree.  Good luck with eliminating your problem....High Powered garden hose set on drill 'em....

We have this problem in my neighborhood.  But since we got a dog, our backyard is pretty well immuned from the problem.  Good luck with the scarecrow.  It just might do the trick.  Let us know!

My brother-in-law uses scarecrow to chase deer way from his roses and other neat stuff in the garden. It works and works on people too.

I have heard that the old school moth balls work for a while.  I haven't tried it though.  Good luck Shannon!

Jean Nate'...remember that fragrance from high school?  That's what a vet recommended to me years ago. Sprinkle or spray that into the dirt or mulch and the kitties will steer clear.  It's still available at some of America's discount grocers and retailers and a big ol' bottle of eau de cologne is less expensive and less offensive than coyote urine. PS. The yard looks great Shannon!
