WI Focus On Energy

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams

Wisconsin residents are very lucky to have Focus On Energy.  We all pay an extra "fee" on our energy bills which goes to fund the Focus programs.

Their site states: Focus on Energy works with eligible Wisconsin residents and businesses to install cost effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Focus information, resources and financial incentives help to implement projects that otherwise would not be completed, or to complete projects sooner than scheduled. Its efforts help Wisconsin residents and businesses manage rising energy costs, promote in-state economic development, protect our environment and control the state's growing demand for electricity and natural gas.

This program helps Realtors because it helps our clients save money!  They will learn how to reduce use, use energy more efficiently, and get rebates on efficiency changes.  These incentives are always changing, so it is best to direct your customers to the site.

Under the "Find Products/Services Verify Eligibility" tab you are asked to enter your area and energy provider.  Then you will see a list of opportunities to choose from.  For the MG&E area I was able to find incentives for installing small-to medium-sized renewable energy systems at a home, condo, or apartment.  These choices were for solar electric, solar water heating, wind electric, and biomass combustion.

There are also often cash-back rewards for purchasing more efficient appliances.  Check under the "Financial Incentives and Cash-Back Rewards" tab for the info. This means you save money on the purchase and you will save money on your energy bills since you use less!  There are different promotions for varying lengths of time from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air, and Amana.
