Is It Time To Spruce Up Your Agent Curb Appeal?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Killian Properties (Oklahoma & Texas)

When Active Rain sends their daily "teasers" to my inbox, I usually see something that interests me and I go to that post to read more.

But.

You knew that was coming, right?

But the thing that really gets me are posts which are published with blatant misspellings.  Grammatical errors aside (because we all do those unless we're English majors) misspellings make me wonder about the intelligence of the person that has authored that post.

I just read a "featured" post where the author used a heterograph (literally "different writing"), wrong in the very first sentence.  I didn't read any more of that post because I formed an opinion of the author (albeit wrong for sure) and decided he/she didn't have anything of value to say to me.  [Heterographic examples include to, too, two, and there, their, they’re.]

How do others perceive you?  We talk about curb appeal and first impressions in real estate when it comes to presenting a property but what about first impressions and curb appeal when it comes to the agent?

Do you make an effort to dress in a business like manner when dealing with clients?  Do you keep your vehicle at least neat and tidy?  Do you smell of smoke and body odor?  (Had to throw that last one in there because I just had an incident dealing with an agent that really needed to read this post.)

Check your agent curb appeal if you want to succeed in this business.

We only get one chance to make a first impression. I've gotten extra careful with my emails and postings lately because my keyboard is getting sticky or something. Often letters I know I typed don't appear on the screen. So I'm proof reading more these days. Hopefully my heterographing days are over as well.
