About ten years ago, a nice neighbor asked me for a favor. His friend needed someplace to store some used appliances for a few months and he wondered if my empty garage that I've never used. Being such a nice person, I said sure.
Four years later, they were still there, and I tried to call the friend, only to learn that he had left the area and joined some religious cult.
Now, I don't use my garage, and having it full of all of this stuff did make it impossible for anyone to come through the garage, into my back yard, then into my house. So I ignored the situation, and my back yard.
Then I had some reconstruction work done on my back porch, and the contractor left a bunch of construction debris in heavy black bags near the back gate. I sort of ignored that as it made it harder for Willie the Labradoodle to do his escape artist trick.
Finally, I'd had enough and decided it was time to reclaim the space out there. And after making a few calls to junk haulers, I reached Frank Coyne, who works for Junk in the Trunk.
- He answered his phone. The other guys asked me to leave a message.
- He came to my house withing two hours to give me an estimate.
- He offered the Angie's List and Realtor® discounts without my offering
- His rates were a lot less than I expected to pay.
- The truck showed up right on time and three loads later, it was all done.
- They left my garage "broom clean"!
- They try to recycle as much as they can.
- The crew also removed a bunch of heavy stuff from my basement and carted it off, refusing to charge extra for it.
- They reluctantly agreed to accept a tip.
These guys totally exceeded my expectations. They wowed me big time. And something tells me it's not just because I am a Realtor® om a position to refer them business. They are at the top of Angie's List, with a solid A rating. Now I have to go and add my A+ to that long list of delighted customers.
So I still have a bunch of junk in the trunk of my car - something that has provided blog fodder for several local bloggers. But my yard and garage are looking pristine.
