By
Services for Real Estate Pros with HDhat.com

The 2 videos below are a great comparison of the filming quality of the Kodak Zi8 and Sony HX1 for doing real estate video tours.  Using either one of these cameras a real estate agent can capture the clips needed to send to HDhat.com to create a masterpiece of marketing.  Both these samples were shot within minutes of each other and took less than 10 minutes to film each!
The Kodak Zi8 is priced at just over $200 with the wide angle lens.  You can find the links for all these products in the "Store" button at the top of the http://www.hdhat.com page.

Thanks for sharing!  I didn't notice any major differences between the two cameras.  Did you use your stabilizer bar?  I use the Kodak zi6 with the wide-angle lens hack that I learned from you.  It doesn't zoom in or out while recording so my next camera will have that feature...less editing time!  Thanks again for sharing!

Zoom can cause vertigo or the buyer to race for dramamine if over used, too fast. Slow smooth movement, and not crossing the axis so viewer is suddenly "beamed", jerked to they are not sure where causes confusion, interrupts the experience you wanted from video done right. Audio captured at the property, and sound of broker's voice underneath that pan of the back yard bird's chirping, crackling fireplace with dancing flames is 40% of the video too.

That Z18 really does a nice job.  I was surprised by how nice that was.  In some cases, I thought it did a better job.  The outside shots at the beginning looked a little more harsh and blown out on the Sony (assuming both were fully auto).  The Z18 seemed a little darker inside, but didn't seem to change the iris as much as the sony did.

Were those videos shot with a stabilizer, or using your handheld technique with a smoothing filter in post?
