Carpet Problems/Mildew
Remove Standing water with a shop vac. Renting a Rug Dr ($30) will allow you to deep clean into the carpet using mildew fighting chemicals. Found with the Rug Dr.
Standing Water
Using a push broom, push water outside if possible. Sop up the remaining puddles with towels. Place fans on the floor to dry thoroughly.
Wet Furniture.
A professional water extractor can be obtained by renting a Rug Dr. ($30) be sure to rent the attachment hoses ($3) which allow the tool to be used on furniture.
Mud on floors.
When a thick layer of mud is covering the floor get a flat blade shovel and scoop out the mud. Next use a push broom ($12) to remove large areas of mud. Push into a large construction dustpan and remove. Towel up remaining mud. Finish up with a mop.
Water/Mildew in Car.
Remove standing water with a shop vac and towels. Keep all windows open and position a fan to move air across the carpet. Treat interior same as carpet in the home if necessary.
