THE CHICAGO IL REAL ESTATE MARKET, AND OTHER THINGS CHICAGO, FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF A LITTLE WHITE DOG!

Buddy Roots for the Cubs - 09-13-2007Hey, hey, you dogs!

You know, most of the canines that know me do not consider me a religious lil' dog!  Haven't been in a church, synagogue, or other place of worship in nearly two years now - since my cousin Sparky's Bar Mitzvah, in late 2008.

But working in a Chicago Real Estate Market that has seen its lengthy periods of sluggishness over the years, it doesn't surprise me to see many human sellers looking to Faith to give them a bit of an edge.

Here in the South Edgebrook Neighborhood of Chicago, where me and my Lil' Sister, Gracie Ella Moss, live (in the Moss Compound, of course), as well is in other Chicago Neighborhoods here on the North Side, many sellers have looked to St. Joseph to help them corral a buyer.  Spiritually, at least.

Team Leader Dean Moss tells of how home sellers often buy a small, plastic statue of the Patron Saint of Home Seller Luck (it seems), bury it in the back yard (not sure if it needs to be buried Face Up or Face Down - this dog gets a bit confused), and hope the spirit of the old Saint will hope move the merch, as they say.

Does the St. Joseph Ritual really work?  Perhaps, if you truly believe - although there is no hard-and-fast data on the ability of a buried, 3-inch statue to roust a prospective homebuyer.  For many others, well, they had nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Statistically, however, it appears that the old St. Joe Statue is often over his head in dirt for a far longer time than in recent years, as Average Market Times in the North and Northwest Sides of Chicago remain stubbornly high.  (Of course, someone like me, with four paws, just might have the presence of mind to find Joe and dig him up.)

Joe's working longer, buried in the back yard, sparked the mind of on entrepreneurial company - EcoJoeKits.com.  The company markets bio-degradable versions of the St. Joseph Statue, rather than the non-degradable common versions, made out of plastic.  The story was reported by Chicago Tribune Real Estate Columnist Mary Umberger.

The new eco-friendly St. Joseph Statue will set a home seller back nearly $15 - but  that seems like a very small price to pay for helping to save the earth, and also sell your home.

Hey, Gracie - quit digging near Joe.  Quit, I say!  Oohhhhh . . . Gracie, now that Dean's Team Listing Client home will never sell quickly!  You're such a dog!

Enjoy the weekend, everyone . . . no matter whether you have 4 paws, or only 2!
