MUST SEE: TheEGG&I, Meyerland, Houston an upscale breakfast and lunch cafe/restaurant

OneADayHouston: The Egg & I Upscale Breakfast and Lunch restaurantRight in the heart of Meyerland, The EGG & I is an upscale breakfast and lunch cafe restaurant that just opened about 8 days ago.  TheEGG&I brings a fresh new experience to the breakfast and lunch scene.  When I got there today, soft classical music greeted me setting the tone for my experience.  The hostess opened the door and welcomed me to the restaurant.  Very nice touch.  I thought I was arriving at a high end restaurant for an evening meal.  But no, I was wearing shorts after my morning workout and needed some healthy breakfast food.

The founder Ray Cesar loved the restaurant business and hated the long hours.  He wanted to spend time with his family.  So he took the concept from a previous restaurant "The Good Egg" in Arizona and created TheEGG&I in Fort Collins, CO in 1987 almost 22 years ago. The Houston proprietors Chris & Gail Osborne were regulars at the Fort Collins location.  A business broker with a vision, Chris Osborne, knew that Houston needed an upscale breakfast and lunch restaurant of their own.   In Houston there are five locations #1 store in The Woodlands, Tomball Parkway(249) & Louetta, Memorial Drive/Kirkwood, West Bay Area Blvd (Clear Lake) and now in Meyerland, Houston!

OneADayHouston: The Egg and I Paul & Tori TheEGG&I's manager Paul Pacheco took in 600 applications to find the right 30 people.  Those selected are the best of the best servers.  We were looking for specific personalities to give that upscale feeling we wanted to convey.  He also has made an impact on several of his regular clients.  "I tell Tori (6 year old daughter) stories and my clients even call me back about her.  I teach my daughter Tori about French style cooking and the importance of preparing before cooking and putting everything back 'Mis En Place'. I was running around back and forth between the pantry, the stove and the refrigerator, that my six year old Tori said, "Dad, you are not Mis En Place'!"  Go to the TheEGG&I to hear more Tori stories from Paul Pacheco.  Say hi to Daniel as well!  He is a great server.

OFFER: Mention this blog and you will get free coffee.  Offer ends May 31st, 2010.

TheEGG&I Gives back

OneADayHouston: The Egg and I gives back to Jewish Community CenterTheEGG&I participates in the local community.  The practice day (dry run before the store opened) guests were treated to a meal.  When the guest offered to pay, the entire amount was given to Jewish Community Center's Meals on Wheels. See link.  On Mother's Day,  TheEGG&I sold chocolate covered strawberries and the proceeds went to women at the Star of Hope!

Thanks to Shirley Hou/President of the Meyerland homeowner's association (You make some mean rice krispie treats!) for the tip on new breakfast places to eat.
