I went on a listing appointment the other day and decided I needed some "Wow" factor because I knew I was competing with another agent for the listing. I told the seller about blogging listings and how it would help buyers using long tail keywords to find his home for sale. Long tail keywords are phrases like "waterfront homes for sale in Plainfield" or "homes for sale in Shorewood with mature trees". The goal of blogging listings is to use these types of keywords to generate content that search engines will use to rank pages.
I knew beforehand that one of my listings was on the first page of google for the phrase "3 Bedroom home for sale in Park Forest". He agreed with me that he sometimes used Google to search homes for sale. I didn't have to use the exact same words as the title of my previous blog to make it on the first page, but if I had used the exact phrase it comes up as the number 1 position.
I'm still waiting to hear if I am taking the listing, but I feel like blogging on Activerain and the results that I can show to sellers really improved my chances of taking it.
Below is my screenshot with the purple link (9th on the page) being my listing blog.
