Bad Photos on the MLS

How many bad photos have you seen while searching the MLS?  Better question....How many of you have posted bad photos to the MLS?

Were you careless? Didn't have enough time? Or you got back to office found that the photos you snapped while in front of the home just didn't come out as well as you like?

Here's a simple solution to repairing bad digital photos...

BEFORE photo: Notice the obvious slant compared to the border; too much background and too much foreground; partial view of neighboring house.

Before

  • Open a search window and right click on the photo you need to fix.
  • Click on Windows Live Photo Gallery or click here to download fron Microsoft.
  • Select the photo you want to repair then click on "File" then "Make a copy" and rename your file.
  • Then click on  "Fix" from top menu.
  • In the right hand column, click on "Straighten photo". The program will attenpt to correct the photo.
  • Use the slider bar to fine tune your repair.
  • Click on "Crop photo" to further adjust your image.  You can also adjust color and exposure if you choose.
  • Click "Apply", then close the entire window

IMPORTANT WARNING: When you close the window the newly adjusted photo will OVERWRITE the old one so make sure you have a back up of the original before you start!

AFTER photo:

after

Notice now that the subject (the home you are trying to SELL!) fills the frame fully, the vertical and horizontal lines are aligned with the borders and there is little distraction from the neighboring home.

BTW...I forgot to mention that the Windows Live Photo Gallery program has an ubdo function called "Revert" which will return your photo to it's original image EVEN after you have closed the program!
