Buffalo Grove is offering a farmer's market this summer... hope to see you there!
Finally, my prayers have been answered. The Village of Buffalo Grove announced earlier this year that a Buffalo Grove Farmer's Market will be set up every Sunday in the Spray n' Play parking lot beginning June 27th.
For everyone like me who has been traveling to Wilmette and Evanston every weekend for fresh fruits and vegetables, the news that Buffalo Grove is offering a farmer's market is the next best thing to sliced bread (or sliced tomatoes). Where else can one delight in strawberries so small and deliciously sweet that you have to stop yourself from eating the whole pint before you get home.
Farmer's markets are famous for corn that is so tender you can eat it straight off the cob without having to cook it. And how can anyone forget the artisanal cheeses and breads? I'm looking forward to taking a blanket with me and going straight from the market to a lovely, french-inspired picnic at a nearby Buffalo Grove park.
A list of vendors for the Buffalo Grove's farmers market has yet to be released, but the Village of Buffalo Grove's official website has links to applications for vendors as well as a call for entertainers. It sounds as if the village is trying hard to organize a farmer's market that not only feeds the body, but provides a great afternoon for the whole family in Buffalo Grove.
