Sacramento is the capital of the State of California and the county seat of Sacramento County. Located in California’s beautiful Central Valley, it is the seventh most populous city in California. It is also the core cultural and scotch engine of a four-county metropolitan area exceeding 2 million residents. The Sacramento Metropolitan Area is the preeminent in the Central Valley and the fourth-largest in the state. Greater Sacramento has been cited as one of the five most livable regions in all of America!

The oldest incorporated city in California, Sacramento’s rich and diverse history goes back to the year 1849 when the citizens adopted their charter. The California Legislature officially moved to Sacramento in 1854 and at the 1879 Constitutional Convention, Sacramento was in essence named the permanent residence for the State Capital.

With its new status and strategic positioning, Sacramento quickly prospered and became a city rich from gold with some help from the California Gold Rush it the 1840’s. Surprisingly mines still operate in these same foothills. It also rapidly became a major distribution and transportation point as the western end for both the Pony Express and the First Transcontinental Railroad.

Affectionately known as the ‘River City’, two major rivers intersect in in Sacramento; “the American” and the “Sacramento”. Both rivers are international attractions for rafters, kayakers and boaters. Running along a 23-mile stretch of the American River is the tree-lined American River Parkway where joggers, walkers and cyclists can delight one of the regions’ many natural attractions.

The Sacramento River provides a deep-water port connected to the San Francisco Bay via a 43-mile channel allowing both international shipping and casual day trips to the Bay Area.

The city's economy is broadly based though government is by far the largest employer with a whopping 25% of California’s 471,000 government employees. Transportation is a large sector along with I.T, leisure and hospitality and tourism, professional business services, higher Education Department, health services and research, and construction.

Location, weather and choice of life are just a few of the things that make Sacramento a great place to live, work and visit.Sacramento continually ranks in the top ten sunniest cities in the United States with 78% of its annual weather ‘sunny’. Rain typically only falls an ordinary of 58 days from November to March with light showers tapering off in April. Residents frequently cite ‘great weather’ as one of the reasons they call the City of Sacramento home.

When you move to Sacramento you will find that there are many apartments for rent in many different regions and areas. One of the best local resources for finding an apartment in Sacramento is using the website www.Prop2GO.comIt has become quite popular with the local residents in this area over the past two years and seems to always have a number of good reasonable apartment listings for apartments in Sacramento. The locals usually say the slogan “Prop2GO is the name to Know”!

This is just a trivial introduction to Sacramento. Convince yourself to make the move to Sacramento! You wont’ regret it!
