THE TAX CREDIT INCENTIVE IS NOT OVER....

.....FOR THE MILITARY....GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES/FOREIGN SERVICE AND INTELLIGENCE    COMMUNITY

Original content by Jean Griswold

Why aren't we hearing more about this provision of the First Time Home Buyer Credit:

"Members of the military and certain other federal employees serving outside the U.S. have an extra year to buy a principal residence in the U.S. and qualify for the credit. Thus, an eligible taxpayer must buy, or enter into a binding contract to buy, a principal residence on or before April 30, 2011. If a binding contract is entered into by that date, the taxpayer has until June 30, 2011, to close on the purchase. Members of the uniformed services, members of the Foreign Service and employees of the intelligence community are eligible for this special rule. It applies to any individual (and, if married, the individual's spouse) who serves on qualified official extended duty service outside of the United States for at least 90 days during the period beginning after Dec. 31, 2008, and ending before May 1, 2010."

Jane,

We need to have this promotion exploited much more.  It is up to the media, lending institutions and the fed's to put the word out, of such a positive program.  Woops, did I say positive, well that blows that :<(

Janet- Thanks for re-posting this. We have a lot of active military in our area & I just heard about this in another AR blog by Shay Campbell here in Raleigh. It really is disappointing that main stream media has not picked this up. Thank goodness for Active Rain! Let's all help get the word out. These heroes truly deserve a tax break.

Well Team Active Rain...since we are in the trenches and on the front line, I think it is up to us to contact our newspapers, send out our blogs and rattle our sabers! I agree that the negative stories always lead...but if each of us reblogs this article that is a start! Then if we post it on face book...that is another great place to get the word out.

We have a lot of power, we just need to use it. I believe that the REALTORS are positioned to make a difference. Face it, if we don't do it, who will?
