After getting rained out on Tuesday and the rain never letting up until 1 pm Thursday, our final home game ever may not occur. There was several inches of water on the field including over home and 2nd base. Our grounds wents went to work and created a scene out of the movie "holes". I arrived early to see how bad the field was going to be and to help out. Most of the water was gone by then but the field was still quite soupy. We started by filling in the batter boxes with drier clay by the backstop. We then went to fill the holes created to drain the 2nd base area. Soon after Mr Votah came to drag the field. After several passes the field realy started to take shape. The game was on!

Of course this is what you came to read. Kaia started pitching and went 2 scoreless innings against Maranatha. We hadn't scored either and Coach D brought in Kelli to pitch to keep Maranatha off guard. In the bottom of the 3rd, Renee took the first pitch off her ankle and was awarded first base. Jenny reached on a base hit and Kelli loaded them up with another hit. Amy had replaced Stephanie in the 3 spot and at first base after Steph twisted her ankle in practice the night before. Amy took advantage of the situation and ripped a liner past the pitcher into center field scoring Renee and Jenny. Saints up 2-0!

The score held until the bottom of the 6th when Marantha took advantage of a couple of throwing errors and scored twice themselves. They threatened to break the game open in the 8th with runners at first and 2nd and one out. They hit a solid line drive to the left side, which Maddie snagged and threw out the girl at 2nd.

Bottom of the 8th! Jenny started the hitting again with a shot past the 3rd baseman. Then Kelli followed with a double to center. No chances this time with Amy, they walked her to load them up. Katie hit a ball to the 3rd baseman who threw out Jenny at the plate. Maddie stepped to the plate, and wuickly was behing 0-2 in the count. She took the next pitch towards 2nd base, the 2nd baseman had Katie bearing down on her and missed played the ball, all runners were safe and the game ended. 3-2 walkoff victory for the Saints and Meadow Creeks final home game ever!

Go Saints! Andover noon Saturday in the crosstown grudge match! Don't miss it.

Make sure your home is "SOLD by Friday!"

@Dan, believe I am enjoying this. I volunteered to help coach this year as I have a senior and a Junior on the team.
