Robbins-Sanford Grand Hall in Searcy Arkansas is location for great parties now.

Here's the way the Robbins Sanford building in downtown Searcy used to look and the way it looks today.

It has been renovated and in the middle of the block is the entrance to the Grand Hall.  The hall really does appear "grand" too with the old tin ceilings showing and the wall has an artistic view of an old brick wall.

And on May 13, 2010 it was the location for a grand party honoring two of Searcy's most beloved and knowledgeable citizens, Benson Robbins (yes, his relatives were previously owners of the building) and Marty Hawkins.  Here they are looking like the Blues Brothers.

And here they were as the stars of the party given to honor their 80th birthdays.

Of course the wives deserve recognition for helping make these guys the successes that they are.

Jessica and Betty

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TWO SEARCY SCIONS!  They contributed to years and years of Searcy's growth and deserved the party in a Grand Hall.

I would like to see more of the brick behind the paint in the hall. But it is neat with the tin ceiling.

Thank you

The happiest of birthdays to both the birthday boys: Benson and Marty.   I'm trying to see a little bit of Dr. Martin Hawkins in Marty, and I think I do.  Of course Benson looks like "Boney", his dad.    Betty and Jessica look great, too.

I can hardly wait to go up to the Grand Hall and look around.  Wow!  Searcy is on it's way back.  Was there any dancing after dinner?

Scott, the ceilings were way high back then.....just like people like them now.  History repeats itself.

Anita, no dancing.  I'm glad you liked the party blog.

Nutsy, this is a dry county so you can't serve that here!  The party was NOT wild...........

I love the way they changed the front of the building -- more of an art deco style. It also looked like everybody had their own fireplace back in the day. But that photo of the Blues Brothers slayed me.

Elizabeth, those chimneys interest me.  There are so many of them and it was a large store so I don't think it was a fireplace setup.  Perhaps someone can explain them.  I too liked the Blues Brothers!

My favorite memory of the Sanford-Robbin's store was the stuffed horse near the front door. I spent much time thinking about that horse. Here's a picture of the horse from 1936.

Don, that's a great horse picture and the horse looks so real.  I'll bet little kids stood in line to get on its back!  Thanks for uploading it.

Does anyone know what happened to the horse?  I am on a mission to find it and bring it back!  I heard that somone had it in their yard up around Petit Jean Mountain.

Thanks for the picture Don!  I have uploaded it to the Robbins Sanford Grand Hall Facebook page.  If anyone has any  of Robbins Sanford pictures they would like to share, I would love to have a copy to display in the Grand Hall.  Thanks!

Those are fine photos.  You did will to publish them, Barbara.  I've always heard of the horse.  The Blues Brothers were very much a part of my life, particularly one of them.  I count him as a patriot and a dear friend.  Peggy

Peggy, thanks for this comment.  The Blues Boys just had another birthday, I think, and I accused them of having a party somewhere and not inviting me.  : )
