Bristow, VA's Nissan Pavillion is Now Jiffy Lube Live

Living in Bristow, VA and working as a Realtor®, I get many chances to drive around the area and see what's happening.  One well traveled road for me is Wellington Road, from Devlin Road to University.  Along this stretch of Wellington Road a large music venue is located.

This venue, as long as it had been in existence, has been called the Nissan Pavillion.  Not so anymore.  I drove by a few weeks ago and noticed a new sign at the entrance to the music venue:  Jiffy Lube Live.  Sounds odd when you're used to something being branded with another name.

I just did a quick check of Jiffy Lube Live's events and it seems only the name has changed.  The WMZQ fest will be happening in early June (that's a big Country ticket in our area, named for our major country music radio station), American Idol Live will be there in late July, and of course, the time tested favorite and most likely to bring Bristow-Gainesville traffic to a halt for early tailgating, Jimmy Buffet will be performing two dates in early September.

If you're into more of the classic rockers, you will be pleased to know that Styx and Foreigner are a doubleheader event this summer, Sting will be there with an orchestra, and one of the best musical acts I've ever seen perform, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, are coming to town.

There's a heck of a lot more than those highlights, so be sure to check Jiffy Lube Live's online calendar of events for the 2010 season.

Linda:  I had been to the pavillion many times before moving to Bristow, VA.  Saw Hall & Oates, Tina Turner, Boston, Queensryche (there's my headbanging side coming out) and others.  By far, Tina Turner was the best act I've ever seen at this venue.

Let me help you with the next phase of your life!

Chris Ann,  I think it is a strage name too.  Jiffy Lube must be their new sponser.  I wouldn't mind seeing Styx and Foreigner but I really would like to go to American Idol Live.   I seen Foreinger last fall here in Cherokee, NC I was front stage looking up at them like a teenage girl screaming and yelling until I lost my voice.  That would be cool.  I am jealous you got to see Tina Turner.  I have always wanted to see Cher too but never have and now she is retired. Bummer!

I love Styx! I still hear them on the radio here and there. Ahhhh, the 80's! :)

Chris Ann:

We have to keep up with all of the name changes of our favorite venues. Here, in Mansfield, MA one of the biggest is the Comcast Center, formerly known as Great Woods, formerly known as the Tweeter Center.

I saw Aerosmith there last summer and in July I have tickets to Tom Petty - I can't wait!

June:  I missed Cher too.  I had an unfair advantage with all the shows I've seen.  I worked in the radio industry before I got into real estate.  We got all kinds of freebies.

Jackie:  The 80's will never die if I have anything to do with it.

Claudette:  Tom Petty is a great show.  You will love it.  As for the constant changing names, it's annoying.

All the major venues seem to be switching to corporate sponsorship. It's a little disheartening, really, to see a favorite place change its name to something not at all related to the community. I believe they are changing the name of Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Elizabeth:  Candlestick Park may be the last one standing that's not corporate sponsored.  The problem with the corporate sponsorship is that everyone forgets the name of the place when it's switched sponsors a few times.

I always forget to check the concert schedule to see who is performing and more importantly, WHEN.  Traffic can be a bear around that area on the weekends. Anything happening this weekend?

Anne:  Looks like Kings of Leon (whoever the heck they are) will be there today.  Some Mayhem Fest tomorrow.  I am very much out of the current musical loop.
