How do People find you on Facebook and other sites?

Mortgage and Lending with Mortgage Magic

I tried to find myself on Facebook so that I could have others join me there and when I put in my name, Doug Jones, about 44 million names came up! It is no advantage to have a very common name.

Because I use the handle Dr Money Magic to open our TV show each week I adopted Dr Money Magic as my FaceBook address. So now I can be found at http://www.facebook.com/DrMoneyMagic ..then I figured that I may as well continue with twitter and Linked In... http://www.twitter.com/drmoneymagic and finally the same address for Linked In at http://www.linkedin.com/in/drmoneymagic .....

Now I can be found ! Talk about Transparency!

That makes sense. I've tried to find friends from college and high school, and even colleagues from my first teaching job, through facebook, only to get some 500+ people who could "possibly" be that person.

For what its worth, I've seen people put a fake middle name on Facebook (don't know of FB's rules on such a thing), but you could consider "Doug DrMoneyMagic Jones".

Doug, that's a great idea.  I'll have to think of something similar, there's a lot of Gary Swanson's out there.

Doug - Good advise. Sometimes when I check for particular name, search result gives many similiar names, so it is difficult to know which one is the right name.
