I had heard about Smiley's Flea Market in Fletcher NC for quite some time, but had never ventured over there. It is a huge place. There are outside vendors and inside vendors, and all have wares to sell. You can find just about anything there and the prices are good.
So yesterday I decided to try it. They finally have added a large parking area to the business and so it isn't so dangerous having to park on the edge of a four lane highway to get a spot. I had no trouble parking and so I was a happy visitor right off the bat.
I have to say, if you are going to make the trip, wear good shoes and plan on carrying water. It was hot. But there was so much to see, it was worth the trip. I actually got some beautiful iris' there for a great price. And all I heard was true. There was food and produce and plants and stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. Used stuff and new stuff galore. It really is the largest yard sale in the South.
So if you are looking for STUFF, this is the place. Just be prepared for lots of walking and something to drink. And bring a big truck to haul all of your big finds home.
Smiley's is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday year round. Located on Highway 25 North/Hendersonville Road in Fletcher, it is easy to spot. The signage is huge, as huge as the place itself. Just look for the big yellow sign.
