NASCAR NATION: M&M Owns the Monster Mile

Today, it appeared that M&M owned the Monster Mile.  The "King", Richard Petty gave the "Gentlemen, start your engines" war cry at the beginning, which was appropriate since he was part of the inaugural inductees to the NASCAR Hall of Fame earlier this week in Charlotte, NC.  And AJ Allmedinger made the crowd cheer with his STP retro paint scheme in honor of the King's old #43.  At the Dover International Speedway, the Monster Mile was actually pretty tame.  There weren't any big wrecks (which is good).  There were a total of five cautions (most of which were incidents of single cars hitting walls all by themselves).  And it really only seemed to be a race between two main guys: the reigning Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and the M&M driver Kyle Busch.

Both guys had fantastic cars and did really well.  Kyle couldn't communicate with his spotter or crew chief when he accidentally unplugged his headphones.  That can cause serious problems when a driver is unable to hear what's going on around him or when to come in to pit.  Once he realized what the issue was, it was fixed right up and Kyle was set back on track.

It continued to be Jimmie and Kyle trading back and forth until, with just over 30 laps to go and under a green flag pit stop, Jimmie made a very rare mistake and sped out of his pit, causing him to have to do a pass through of pit row at the low pit row speed while everyone else was going full throttle on the track.  This caused him to go a lap down and put the #18 M&M car out in front by a huge margin.  In fact, when all was said and done, Kyle Busch managed to take the checkered flag at the end with more than a 7 second lead over second place Jeff Burton.  Nobody could take him!

Next week is a pass week for regular Sprint Cup racing.  But, the All-Star race will be broadcast on Speed Saturday, May 22, 2010.  So, we'll be able to see some racing going on.  Should be good, too.

I'm a NASCAR fan and Kyle won the race yesterday too, he has become quite a racer and he is very young and will be superb and a real contender as he ages and becomes more mature.

They keep talking about the "new Kyle", Monika.  That only happens when he is winning.  When he's losing, he's the same "old Kyle" that people boo.  He is a real talent, though.  Nobody can argue with that.

I would love to help them with their virtual assistance, Carra.  However, I would love it even more if I could provide them ACTUAL assistance.  :)

Kyle or Denney will give JJ a run for his 5th straight championship.  Kurt is a BETTER DRIVER than the cars he is provided and Dodge needs to step-up for their NASCAR teams or opt out entirely.

I'd LOVE for Toyota to get it's first championship this year!
