Why not say how much you hate Voice Mail???

Being Transparent might cause issues - but I am not sure anyone can blame you for it.  At least they know what they are dealing with.

BTW, did I mention how much I HATE VOICE MAIL...

I hate getting the messages that calls will be returned between certain times, or the voice mails with a built in Guide Book -  press 1 to report crimes against the Queen and press 3 for the Shaved Monkeys..  Yuck....

I have changed our approach to HUMOR and have found we get more callers leaving messages.  I have limited our voice mail message at our office to less than 40 words.

I have told the caller how much I hate calling a place and getting a voice mail message.  How much I despise leaving messages.  And how much I love it when the person I am calling answers the phone.

There are actually times when we are all tied up.  I won't answer a call when I am attending to a clients needs.

I won't answer the phone when I am in the bathroom (too much echo....LOL)  Plus in a public bathroom, you cannot control the "flushing factor".  You know that Newton's Law applies to Bathrooms more than anywhere...

So, you might re-think your voice mail message.  If it is too long, the caller might call someone else.  If too descriptive, they might hang up and not leave you a message.

What do you think??

Agreed, especially about limiting call backs.  I understand people want to create a 9-5 job to maximize family time; however, real estate is not a 9-5 job.  I will not use or recommend a realtor that has limited hours.  If someone wants to keep those hours, simply do not broadcast it to the world.  Just call back in the morning.
