One lady stopped by my Crow Wing County Fair booth today, who understood staging.  She says she watches all the HGTV programs.  Then she proceeded to tell me that if she were selling her home she would have it staged and if she were buying she would look for the unstaged home.  So would I!  That unstaged home may have great bones, been setting on the market for months, and had the price reduced a number of times, making it a great buy.  A good idea for someone with a good eye and the willingness to put sweat equity into a project.

If you are selling, call Re$ale Design and Home Staging, so she doesn't buy your homes for pennies.

Holy Mackerel, Kathleen, what are you doing at this thing?  A County Fair?  You are so brave to take THAT on!  How big is the pig this year?!  You must be dying of heat to say nothing of going hoarse... or maybe horse?!  What ARE the green things the kids are about to send down the chute?

Juliet,

That weight of the pig has not been announced yet but it is "some pig"

The green things are racing cucumbers.

Betty- Honey sundae with sunflower seeds.  Monster Ears - a fried flat bread with sugar, OOfda Taco - fried flat bread with taco fixings,  Shooster bacon cheese burger , Need I confess more?

Kathleen, no corn dogs or fudge?  They are my personal favorites.  I truly believe that fudge should be top priority in all the food groups.  Cucumber races - what a creative invention.  If I was still teaching this would be a fabulous science lesson.  Must relay to some of my teacher friends.  Thanks.  Betty

Hi Kathleen - fairs, flee markets, farmers markets, etc., are hard word (standing on your feet all day) but they really do bring in new business...so good for you. I am behind you 100%. Now stay away from that killer food and you should be around to reap your rewards.

Kathleen: Racing Cucumbers??? Do tell. Now I have heard everything. Are they bred so that they slide faster than non-racing cucumbers? What a hoot!

How are things going for you at the fair? Was it worth the time and sweat you have put into it?

The cukes have little wooden wheels inserted for racing.  As to the worth it question - I will blog!!

It was 10-10 for 5 days plus set up and put away at night of some items and just myself, as Allison was helping her friend with her wedding.

Hi Kathleen, that lady's comment has me all cornfused.  If she were selling she'd stage, if she were buying she would look for unstaged.  So what makes her think other people would prefer her "staged" home over the unstaged homes, if she herself as a buyer would look for unstaged?  I think my question is cornfusing :-)  It doesn't make any sense.  Is that the mentality of the sellers out there?  The reason they hesitate to hire us?  Gotta hand it to you sitting around in a booth at the fair all week.  How are your horses?

I love the photos of the fair Kathleen! And that lady was a smart cookie - I'd look for a house too that I could get the best bargain for but I know what to do with it afterward.

Most people want a home that is move in ready and staging can help a seller achieve that for the majority of buyers who will be interested in the property. No low balling offers either!

I was thinking of this very thing today. This is why my husband and I are so good at what we do. We always looked and bought the unstaged homes and then fixed them and said .... boy if the sellers could see this home now, they wouldn't recognize it.
