Heavenly Pie Crust

I have to admit it - I have been a miserable failure at making pie crust.  That's not easy for me to admit nor is it Pie Angela title I've been proud to wear.

Cue to heavenly angels - AAAAAAH!  Halleluja, Hannah!  I am no longer a failure!  I have found the easier, flakiest pie crust in the world.

Heavenly Pie Crust

1 1/2 to 2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

3/4 cup shortening (I use Crisco)

1/4 cup boiling water

1 tblsp. milk

In a large bowl, mix together flour (start with 1 1/2 cups), sugar and salt.  Cut in the shortening and add the boiling water and milk.   Blend all these ingredients well.  On a lightly floured surface, roll out your dough into a 12' circle.  Transfer the pastry to a 9' pie pan.  Bake 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until lightly brown.

This recipe can be doubled for a 2-crust pie.  Just bake according to the pie recipe you're using.

Hi Robert - Mmmmm!  Not only does apple pie taste good, it smells like heaven when it's baking.
