General Information
Tivoli, New York, is a beautiful little village located in the northwest part of the Town Red Hook in Northern Dutchess County, in the Mid Hudson River Valley. The region was settled in the late 1600's by the Dutch under the Schuyler Patent. The village of Tivoli was formerly known as Upper Red Hook Landing. Another community, "Madalin", was contiguous to Upper Red Hook Landing. Tivoli was incorporated in 1872, consolidating Upper Red Hook Landing and Madalin. The population of Tivoli is approximately is 1,200. The village itself is about 1.8 square miles. Tivoli is about 65 miles south of Albany (the state capital), 47 miles from Danbury, Connecticut, and 85 miles from New York City. Schools The Red Hook Central School District is attended by students from the town, villages and hamlets of Barrytown and Annandale on Hudson and the Village of Tivoli. There is a single elementary school, Mill Road School, for grades K-5, Linden Avenue Middle School for grades 6-8, and Red Hook High School for grades 9-12. Government Tivoli has a mayor, a deputy mayor, and three trustees. Town meetings are held at the Watts dePeyster Hall, built by General John Watts dePeyster.
Things to Do
Tivoli is close to Bard College and the Richard B. Fischer Performing Arts Center. Tivoli has a great Mexican restaurant called Santa Fe, as well as a small intimate restaurant called Madalin's Table, which offers a great bar and wonderful food. The Tivoli Artists Co-op has rotating shows of the works of local artists. Kaatsbaan, a permanent international dance center, is located in Tivoli. It is dedicated to the growth, preservation and advancement of dance. Just a few short minutes north of Tivoli is the beautiful Clermont State Park, which was home to the Livingston family, a wealthy and very influential family in the Hudson Valley

Spring and summer bring lush green foliage to our mountains and farmlands and the river beckons boaters to enjoy the scenery. In the fall the Hudson Valley is a blaze of color and in winter our moderate snowfall is wonderful for sledding locally or skiing and snowboarding in the nearby Catskill and Berkshire mountains.

Tivoli is surrounding by many other beautiful towns all with their own unique personalities. They are: Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Hyde Park, Milan, Germantown, Staatsburg, Pine Plains, Clermont, Stanford and Staastburg. The major shopping centers are located in Kingston and Poughkeepsie.
