Hi All,
We all talked about it, wondered about it, heck some people even fantasized about it, but no one but me was actually there to witness it... The moment when, for the very first time in real life Kevin met ARDELL and, contrary to the story that she will tell, it was on a street corner. But, I want to make sure that the story is given its rightful due.
Picture, if you will, a crowded room filled with an uncountable number of people all enjoying great conversation, wonderful food and an open bar. The noise was deafening, the excitement was palpable and the heat was stifling. Everywhere I turned there was another blogging superstar. I gleefully greeted those that I had met before, and giddily met those I had not. Everybody who was... well, everybody was there. Laurie, Teresa, Jeff, Jim, Drew, Frances, and of course ARDELL.
When I finally met ARDELL for the first time myself the first question she asked me was "Is Kevin here?" No, I answered, technically truthfully as he was not atthe party... Kevin had told ARDELL that he would not be in until really late the night before Blogger's Connect was to start and Mary and I had both been sworn to secrecy about his actual plan.
Kevin, scamp that he is, decided he wanted to surprise ARDELL but I don't think he had any idea how well his surprise would work. Mary and I picked Kevin up at the airport and spent the early part of the day enjoying his company and seeing some sights. I will cover my take on those events in another post.
When ARDELL and I met we decided that neither of us could take the temperature in the room and we wanted to chat without having to shriek above the din. We headed out the door to the street and had barely hit the pavement when who should come strolling up the walk, big as life, but the man himself.
Kevin has a a smile that lights up a room, but when ARDELL turned and their eyes met, although the skies were overcast everywhere else in San Francisco, right there in front of the Thirsty Bear, the sun was shining.

I was so surprised by the synchronicity of it all that I almost forgot my camera was slung around my neck.
I have said many times before that the Universe has a sense of humor and that I believe strongly in the power of "putting something out there", yet, I was still surprised by the fact that after joking here on AR that I wanted to be there when they met for the very first time I actually would be.
ARDELL was pretty convinced that I had arranged the whole thing, but I am telling everyone very truthfully, that while I knew Kevin's plan to surprise ARDELL with his earlier arrival (I would have to be an idiot to have missed that, having picked him up at the airport in my trusty Prius and shepherding him about the city with Mary and all...) being there when the two of them met for the very first time was not arranged by me. There was someone else at work where that was concerned.

I can tell you that although this picture may not be the most beautiful shot of either Kevin or ARDELL ever taken, the moment it captures was one of the best I have ever had the privilege of witnessing.
And, even though they may not show in the photos, I assure you that the doves, the trumpets and everything else, were all there just like someone planned...
So, there you have it... recorded for posterity, the moment when, on a busy street in the heart of the city, two of my favorite people, who had known each other for quite a while, met for the very first time.
Take care all, help lots of people and have a wonderful day!
Tisza
