Ever Heard of a Cistern?

Upon showing a property recently that was located in the foothills of Denver I learned about cisterns.  My husband tells me that we once rented a farmhouse in Northern Minnesota many years ago (you wouldn't believe how many) that also had a cistern.  I guess at that oblivious time in my life I could have cared less what a cistern was;  all I cared about was that I had water when I needed it, and I did.  But in today's world, a property with a cistern seems pretty rugged and old-fashioned.  My buyer decided that wasn't for them, so they are continuing to look.  I will say that maybe there are always tradeoffs when searching for that "perfect" home.  The property WAS on acreage and with a view of the Denver Metro Valley to DIE for!  But having to hire someone to fill your cistern (basically a water tank) or even worse having to drive yourself down to the water source to fill up your cistern, doesn't seem appealing to me.  I guess it's all a matter of priorities.

Didn't know what a cistern was!  Had heard and read the word MANY TIMES but didn't actually know what a cistern was.  Thanks for the information and education Karen!
