It’s time to begin our tour of lakes.

Let’s start with Red Cedar Lake.  It covers 1,841 acres and has a maximum depth of 53 feet; it’s one of Northwestern Wisconsin’s prime walleye lakes.  According to the DNR, you’ll also find abundant northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass, sunfish, crappies, and perch.

Red Cedar Lake is upstream and about 10 miles northeast of Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  Fed by the Red Cedar River; it’s actually a chain of three lakes that include Balsam Lake to the north and Hemlock to the south. The chain of lakes provides almost fifteen miles of boating and fishing pleasure.

Red Cedar is also a great lake for swimming, waterskiing, sailing, and paddling.  Even on weekends, however, it tends to be calmer than other lakes of its size; that’s especially true in this quiet, out-of-the-way bay.  Most days, you’ll only see a few fishing boats and pontoons.

Nearby, you’ll find dozens more lakes and streams, plus find hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, or ATVing.  Come September, you’ll be close to thousands of acres of public hunting land.

Interested in more civilized pursuits?  You’ll also be close to golf, tennis, beaches, fine dining, and convenient shopping.  Tagalong golf course is less than a mile away; within half an hour’s drive, you’ll find over a dozen more golf courses.  Several restaurants and supper clubs are also nearby.  Depending on where you live on Red Cedar, your new property may come with a membership to the private Loch Lomond Beach Club.

From your home on Red Cedar Lake, you’ll be roughly a mile from the village of Birchwood, two miles from Mikana, and ten miles from Rice Lake.  There, you’ll find shopping, dining, entertainment, and the world-class Marshfield Clinic and Lakeview Medical Center.

From Red Cedar Lake, you’ll have an easy commute to Rice Lake, Spooner, or Hayward.  You’ll be about an hour from Eau Claire and two hours from Duluth or the Twin Cities.
