To start off, I am a real estate agent with Watson Realty Corp serving the Jacksonville, FL area. I have been doing this for 18+ years now and thought I had seen it all. However, during the past three years, like many, many other realtors these days, I have truly learned what it takes to be even the slightest bit successful in this business. Which comes to my next thought that inspired this blog series: immigration meets the American Dream. Using the hot button issue of immigration today coupled with the real estate market, I will try to explain what I have recently seen in the area I am serving. And, while I go back to the early stages of immigration and the "American Dreams" these hardworking people came over with, I will also look at how and what this real estate market downturn may be doing to immigrants of these modern times.
