Spruce up your house before putting it on the market

Remember, it's a buyer's market.  That means sellers for the most part, need to cater to the home buyer. Not everything bad can be blamed on the slow market, so a seller may find it worth evaluating the various reasons why their house is not attracting any interest, and hopefully do something about it.  Prepare your home to show.  Set aside some time to spruce up your house before putting it on the market. Houses that are clean, uncluttered and in good repair sell faster and maximize its sales appeal.

Make a list of things that need to be cleaned and repaired by doing an inspection tour.  It will help in figuring the time, and cost for each chore.   Try to look at things through the eyes of a stranger taking a particularly good look at your bathroom(s) and kitchen. The time and money you invest in painting and refurbishing these key rooms will have most impact.

Real estate agents who are interested in listing a home often provide recommendations for increasing its sales appeal. Pay attention to their suggestions. They know what matters to buyers and can be objective about your home's flaws.  You'll be glad you did.
