Saving NASA's Constellation Program

Lawmakers last week blocked President Obama's plans to liquidate NASA's Constellation program, reigniting hopes that the agency will be able to send astronauts up to the moon again.
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted unanimously to tack a clause restricting funding cuts on NASA's $108 billion human spaceflight program onto a must-pass wartime budget package involving money for troops in Afghanistan.
The maneuver was proposed by Sen. Robert Bennett, R-Utah and pushed by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas.
