I'm normally a very modest person but today I have to brag a bit. As they say, if you don't, who will know?
I'm leaving today from the National Gift Basket Show in Orlando where I have been a member of the faculty teaching e-commerce and website optimization for the search engines. It was quite an honor to be asked for a Nationwide Convention of my peers in this industry.
BUT...also, yesterday, it was announced that my entry received Second Place for "Designer of the Year"--the most prestigious award in my industry. Not first place, but I won't complain about being second. As Avis says, when you're second, you try harder. Also the entry was awarded the "Best Corporate Gift Basket Design of the Show". In addition, my company Creative Gifts To Go was recognized for the third year as one of the "Top 50 Gift Basket Companies in America." Not too bad for a little company located in the mountains of northern Arizona.
Now that I've tooted my own horn, there are benefits for YOU. At the tradeshow, I've located some new and different products that I will be incorporating in my gourmet and real estate gift offerings. My credit card is probably quaking in its boots as it realizes how much I've spent. As soon as the products arrive, I'll be creating some new designs to add to my website. Since everything goes through Phoenix, it'll probably be October before much of it can be shipped. I have a new Cranberry Sausage to go with the Cranberry cheese that I currently carry and a new horseradish cheese that has just the right amount of twang without being overpowering. I was hesitant about that one until I tasted it. And if any of you work with "old car and truck" buffs, I have a new little wooden pickup truck that is adorable and well made that makes a great new container for a man's gift (or for the lady who likes the trucks as well).
And I have to tell you about the new ribbon imprinting machine that I invested in. I've had a Howard imprinter for years. You know the ones that you set each letter by hand. I almost never use it because I just don't have time to do all that typesetting. Someone on ebay is going to discover quite a find when I list it there. This new one allows me to do all the typesetting on the computer using all the fonts that I have on my hardrive, importing your logos (they have to be 200 dpi or higher) and making the message as long as I want . It's fabulous and I can hardly wait to receive it and put it to work.
As you can probably tell, I'm excited and I'm sitting here still indulging in my first cup of coffee of the morning. I fly out today, arrive in Flagstaff late tonight, and will be back at work on Tuesday morning.
