Pet Health...Outside perils.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with WHISPERING PINES REALTY 20398180

Today, it was 94 with 58% humidity.  Now that can be a bit rough on us people...but what about our animals that are outside.

Heat stroke is a common thing for our pets, so here are just a few things to think about...

1. Does your pet have enough clean water to make it through the day?

2. Does your pet have a way to get out of the hot sun?

3.  Unexpected storms pop up every year...does your pet have a shelter if one is needed to get out of the elements?

4. I your pet is restrained...is it in danger from wild animals that may make a meal of it. (This is an occurrence that is on the upswing!)

5. Does your pet have the insect contol...Fleas, ticks and flies just to name a few.

6.  Do you give your pet some personal attention each and every day.  They deserve that also.  If not...Why do you have them?

I am sure there are many more items that will come up...but this is a good start.  What other things should we watch for.  Let me know and make sure you give your area.

And Remember...Be kind to your pet!

Very good reminders!  We have not pets at the moment, but we have certainly had our share over the years with our three kids and all of their pet ideas!   Good post before the summer heat sets in

great reminder as the seasons change...I would add to not leave pets in locked cars while you run in to grab a few things at the store...it doesn't take long for the heat to build up in a hot car.

Good tips! You are in MN posting tips about pets in hot weather on the same time I am in Santa Fe, NM with a history of a warmer climate zone where it may go below freezing tonight. Gosh, our weather is not following the map!

William, very much appreciate your tips. I agree with Brian regarding the importance of being careful when leaving pets in the car.

Every year we hear of pets left in crd and just plain abused.  Some laws are getting tought, and that is a good thing!

Bill - We have a 17 year old toy poodle that outlived our kid's attention. They are long gone ..but he remains alive and steadfast. Guess he really was our dog after all and the claims on him from the kids had have been released. Probably his last year. TG for cool breeze., The heat is hard on him...and Thank GOD for my ability to learn compassion from such an absurdly funny and ridiculous little dog. I am the better from him. Perhaps there is hope for me
