I know it's a little early but it was so nice this weekend, it felt like summer!
Clean It Out: Statistically, summer is the best season for selling your home. People have more flexibility during the longer daylight hours. More vacations & time off means more shoppers...but you need to de-clutter first. "Spring Cleaning" is NOT overrated! Pack away the coats, boots, gloves & hats. See ya later, winter! Give the house a good dusting from top to bottom...ceiling fans to baseboards. Not only will it look good, you'll be shocked at what accumulates over time.
Sell it: A garage or yard sale will pull in everyone from college students to new moms. What do you get rid of? If you haven't used something or worn something in two years, get rid of it. Some of the best selling items include: strollers, high chairs, cribs, sporting goods, furniture, tools, books, kitchen items, décor & toys. Take more valuable items like antiques or collectibles to antique dealers or have them appraised.
Create a Back Yard Oasis: As summer is upon us, the backyard beckons us once again to enjoy delicious food & good conversation with family & friends. If your back yard needs some tender loving care, you can quickly create a spectacular vignette that would make anyone want to dine & chat or read or work on a hobby. Take a an old wooden bench & add some throw pillows and an old wooden coffee table. If you have a large tree to place it under, even better! This is a cozy & inviting sitting area to visit with friends, family or just a place to temporarily "get away".
Back inside: If you haven't changed out those winter, heavy drapes...now is a great time! Sheers are so inexpensive, look light & airy & create a lighter feel in any room. Lighter colors also add to the lighter feeling...brighter greens & blues, aqua, cocoa~even yellow & bright orange are the trend this year. Don't be afraid of brighter colors. They are a "pick me up" & can brighten your mood instantly.
Feel free to add your own summer tips!
