street fair vegetablesKicking off it's 22nd year, the Santa Rosa Downtown Market begins May 26th and will continue every Wednesday evening until September 1st.  It looks like we are in for some damp weather the first night this season, but the show will go on, rain or shine.

The Santa Rosa Downtown Market, also known as the Wednesday Night Market, is a popular seasonal event that brings between 5,000 to 8,000 County residents weekly to Santa Rosa for fun, eats, music and of course, shopping.  The Market provides a mid-week break from the nightly routine of cooking, washing the dishes and staring down the boob tube.

This years Santa Rosa Downtown Market will feature a new bungee jumping attraction for thrill seekers called Eurobungy.  This contraption makes use of a trampoline and bungees strapped to your waist with harnesses.  It sounds like a lot of fun, but I think I will have to pass on this one.

Returning for a second year will be demonstrations from local chefs who feature fresh ingredients from market vendors.  Gardeners will take delight in the return of potted vegetable seedlings, and a local Beer, Wine and Cheese making company will return with a do-it-yourself theme.  OK, now that's more like it.  You go ahead and bungee, I'll check out the beer, wine and cheese!

I don't believe I've ever been to Santa Rosa. This would be a good excuse to go. Well, that, and my husband was considering applying for a reporter's job there. It would be at least a 90-minute trip from Sacramento.

Jim - I'm going to skip on the first night, but I'll be there the next week.

Elizabeth - What?  You've never been to Santa Rosa?  Oh, that is just not right.  Sacto is too far of a commute, that would not be a good idea.  It was OK about 10 years ago but there are just too many people on I-80 these days.

Come on Cynthia, be a sport, the Eurobungy sounds like fun, especially after a few glasses of wine and some cheese.

Cynthia...Local makets are always a good time.   You have an opportunity to see old friends, get good values and enjoy new foods.  Have a wonderful time - go ahead and try the bungy ride!
