Benjamin Franklin Exhibit at the Rolling Hills Library
May 18- July 30, 2010
Many years of hard work felt worth it when the Benjamin Franklin exhibit opened at the Belt Library Branch last week. Over three years of dedication was spent in efforts to get the "Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World" exhibit to St. Joseph, and over 11 months of planning and construction went into the opening of the new Annex in which the exhibit is housed in. Both openings marked a happy ending to the hours of hard work but also a new beginning for the facility.
The exhibit features six sections of panels that detail Franklin's life and achievements. It highlights his childhood days, his family and personal life, his public service, and his interested in medicine, science and his political career. The exhibit is open to the public Monday-Friday from 1-8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm. During the time the traveling exhibit is in town the library will sponsor many other Ben Franklin activities such as Franklin crafts, story times, re-enactors, and more.
Traveling exhibits have become more popular over the past few years, bringing history and museum like settings to different cities. This gives local communities the opportunity to see exhibits with out traveling long distances to do so. I encourage you all to stop by the Rolling Hills Library in St. Joseph, MO to check out this exhibit, it will be a unique experience that you won't want to miss!
