In honor of the recent Earth Day, 2010, the Green REsource Council initiated its first advertising campaign focused directly at consumers. The National Association of Realtors, or "NAR", has designated several local Realtors as "GREEN", and this advertising campaign, which appeared on the New York Times web site, is designed to increase the visibility of these top local Realtors.
Depending on what part of the country you live in, GREEN building is popping up all over, and working with a Realtor who understands what makes a home GREEN is a huge advantage for consumers. While it may seem like locating a Realtor with the GREEN Designation is an impossible task, the truth is, it's quite simple.

For the rest of you, go to http://www.greenresourcecouncil.org/find_an_nar_green_designee.cfm and enter the zip code of the area you're looking to purchase your home in. If no one shows up, search the surrounding zip codes. You can also search by state, but it takes a bit longer depending on your state and the number of Green Designees in that area.
There are several factors you should consider when looking to buy a GREEN home, and a Realtor / GREEN Designee has gone through hours of training that other Realtors do not. **
