It has been a VERY busy couple of weeks, so I haven't blogged recently. My last post was about a high ranking for Austin that I wasn't so sure was good news -- as a major funder of lobbyists in the State of Texas. As I noted then, I suspect that have more to do with the City-owned electric utility than it does with other city business, but I have not researched that further.
Today's post, however, is absolutely good news as far as I am concerned:
10 Best Cities for the Next Decade
I have talked and written for a long time about Austin's unique culture -- young, varied, fun, innovative, etc. Those are the features of this wonderful community that earned us Kiplinger's #1 ranking among the "Best Cities for the Next Decade."
Not only did we dodge the worst of the effects of the recession and housing downturn, but we were recognized as the first city to enter the recovery phase, and now our innovative spirit and success as an incubator of small businesses is being held out as an example of how to grow and succeed in the future.
What a place!
