Wednesday May 26th, 2010 Four Hundred students took part in a career fair event. Hosted by the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Greenbrier East & West High School Students and Greenbrier County Schools and the Sate Fair Event Center. The event took place in the Underwood Building at the State Fair Event Center.
Students started arriving around 8:15 am and were there until 12:30 to participate in the event. As Preisient of the Greenbrier Valley Board of Realtors, Realtor, and Agent for Coldwell Banker. I was asked to participate in the event and decided to bring one of our newest agents, Robert Bittinger Jr. from our office. We brought plenty of handouts, pens, and of course candy. (always a good backup!) Students were introduced to a line of professionals, from lawyers, chefs, police officers, and you guessed it realtors!
It was a great morning with plenty of questions and myths answered by many people in the event rooms. Students seemed to be interesed in the career informatoin that was given out to them. The students were given a chance to win some prizes for the event. They were donated by some sponsors that were gracious to support the event. The requirment for the entry was to fill out the answers to a sheet of questions that each booth/representative had to provide. If they could not figure out the answer they guest professionals were there to help them with their efforts.
It was a great event, and we hope to get a chance to be a part of a great community event in the future and help young people decide their career goals. It was a pleasure to be a part of such a great day, and a wonderful event.
