I would love to see one of those car shows too.  I bet there's so much going on you couldn't possibly see it all.  I'm glad to hear the service for Carole was a success.

Hi Laura...I really appreciate this post.  A long, long time ago, way back in 1965 my former husband was offered a position in Oyster Bay.  It was tempting especially for me as my family lived across the Sound in Stratford, CT.  We moved to Houston instead but it's interesting to see the photos and information about this lovely spot.

It's good to see you blogging.  Looking forward to more insightful posts from you.

Take care,

Kate

Neat pictures. Good that you are keeping Carole's blog going. The black car looks to be an old Chevrolet "Woody". Can't remember the year but I think it was late '30's...

Marchel, It's a great place to visit and has so much history from the beginningof Long Island to the role it playedduring the civil war.  The boats where zipping around that day, good wind for sailing :)

Hey Vegas Bob, but of course the is so much to explore, eventually I plan to travel and will be able to do a whole exploring the world blog :)  I be sure to get great material for your groups.

Georgina,Yes her service was elegant and simple just the way she asked :)  The had tons of cars to view and huge speed boats that were the size of two cars combined...crazy!

Hi Laura, I have heard of Oyster Bay because of the TR connection.  Curious, what role did the town play in the Civil War?

Laura, I've wanted to visit the old Roosevelt home since reading a couple of TR biographies.  Lots of poor animal heads - what does that do for the place's Feng Shui?
