BP Oil Spill Protests

BP OIL SPILL - ORGANIZED PROTESTS - MAY 31 - JULY 4:

The National Protest begins Memorial Day Weekend - May 29 & 30. Spread the word! Team up with friends and stand in front of a BP, Arco, and Safeway gas station. Keep the protest going until BP puts every $$$ to stop the oil gush, cleans-up every ounce of oil in the Gulf and restores the environment so badly damaged by its gross negligence.

Here is a List of Scheduled Protests, a Public Display of Outrage over the Lack of Governmental Intervention and the gross abuses committed by BP.

We, the Citizens of The United States of America, stand in solidarity with the State of Louisiana and the entire Gulf of Mexico, demanding an urgent resolve of this Extraordinary Crisis. We demand ACTION and ANSWERS, RESTITUTION and PROTECTION and we want it NOW!

The time for apathy is over. Let's make Obama's words a little less empty; let's insight some real CHANGE!

WHITING, INDIANA, May 31st: We are holding a protest at the BP Refinery in Whiting, Indiana (about 20 minutes south of downtown Chicago) on Monday, May 31st beginning at 8am.

There is a documentary film maker coming in to join our protest and to do some filming. He is making a documentary on the effects the BP refinery has had on the Great Lakes ecosystem. CNN and our local Chanel 9 news have been informed and we're hoping we'll see their news cameras there as well. That's why it's even more important we have a strong headcount at the protest. If you are in the area and would like to show your support, we urge you to join us.    http://bit.ly/WhitingIndiana

Hi Mirela,  A group of agents from our office took a course on oil spill recovery last week.  It is intended to provide basic spill background and remediation techniques.  Attendees will get a certificate and be treated as if they are one step below the " First responders ".   Hope our efforts are not needed but rather be ready than sorry !

It's a mess. I own a condo on the beach in Panama City Beach and feel it is only a matter of time until the oil reaches those stunning beaches as well. My heart is heavy by what Louisiana is going through. I cannot even think about the wildlife, I start to cry. I live in Minneapolis so there isn't a lot I can do from this distance except pray and boycott!

I'd like to start a national protest against all of our petro chemical dependency.  I'd like something like EARTH HOUR, except we could do it once a month and not drive gas powered vehicles for one hour.  If we can't start making a strong stand for alternatives to oil we will never be free of the problems it's causing in environmental, economic, and peace in the world.  Thoughts on how to start?

Wow!  This is great!

Pat, Erica and Barbara:  Bravo!

I will publish a blog about how to organize a protest this weekend.

Meantime, here is the best way to keep your finger on the pulse and find the protests going on all over the World:

BP=Biological Predator Facebook Community Page Events Tab

We currently have four pages of protests scheduled all over the World.

Also, I updated the protest blog today and here it is:

Anti BP Oil Spill Protests Are Sweeping The World!

But I already have five more protests that are not on there yet, but will be in tomorrow's blog.  Three of the five are already on that Facebook Community Page under the Events tab.   I will enter the rest tonight.

The incredible outpour of support has been amazing!

Keep checking back here on my blog roll, for many new posts regarding this critical situation.

Please let me know if you don't have Facebook accounts, so I can figure out another strategy for you to have access to the latest schedule.

You do realize that the BP stations that you are picketing in front of have no relation to BP corp?  Those BP stations are independent contractors, local business people or companies that only sell BP fuel and has no other relationship with BP.  Your protest will do nothing more than hurt a local business and allow you to be seen.  WHich is likely the only reason you are doing this!!

stupid:    A lot of Americans do not feel represented by their politicians.  We live in a Democracy of Consumerism, where your dollar is the only vote you can be sure of.

Make no mistake about it: Boycotting works!  BP is spending millions of dollars disseminating information just like the one you are espousing.  Presenting the case for the poor gas station owners.  It’s all part of BP Propaganda.   The gas station owners can certainly change their affiliation, couldn’t they?

People have the power to change things, but before any action will be taken, the populace needs to be roused.   So many have been significantly impacted by this disaster: livelihoods lost, people harmed, countless animals killed, not to mention the tremendous damage to our environment.  BP’s generous use of  toxic dispersants, dumping over 1.8 million gallons of chemicals into the soil and water is simply criminal.

BP’s despicable actions during the clean-up operation, have garnered the company nothing but animosity and antipathy from the general public.  BP’s malevolence, its strong arming of the government and the media, and its blatant disregard for human rights and human safety, have garnered it a special place in our consciousness as the most hated company in America.

Agree that this Democracy of Consumerism is the true power in a Corporate State system.  I want to organize protests and boycotts here in Erie Pa as well. But we can boycott BP out of existance and someone else will simply take their place. Therefore the actions should be stepped up in the streets to whatever extent necessary to end the power of the corporations over the government.

It is certain that BP is the criminal corporation exposed and despised over all others presantly. Their crimes are so heinous that the only remedy must be total forfiture of all assets, nationalization.  Criminal charges should be brought against ALL management with decision making powers. This should be the focus of the action on the streets.

When we charge, convict, and imprison oil corporation executives for crimes against humanity, people who engage in the insanity of conducting business they cannot control technologically will never again feel so insulated. Drilling on the ocean floor will end.  Perhaps other corporations will be given pause as well. Crush BP yes, but it should just be the beginning.
