Death of appraisal industry

I just received notice from Hamp Thomas, author of "The Death Of An Industry - Real Estate Appraisal", that this study and book is now available.  I hope to obtain a copy soon for a read!  http://www.howtomeasureahouse.com/measure-house-books.cfm#death

The mortgage lending industry continues to follow the "Golden Rule." The one with the gold makes the rules! Is the appraisal industry being punished for a crime they did NOT commit? Who has the most to gain from the chaos? Are AVM's deceiving Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the FHA and consumers? Learn what caused the real estate crisis and the five step solution to getting the appraisal industry back to reality. One state official, obviously more powerful than the President of the United States of America, was faced with a problem involving a national mortgage lender and their automated valuation service. His answer was to give absolute power to the people that caused the problem, AVM's. His plan (HVCC) was force-fed to the mortgage lending, appraisal, and real estate industries. Literally overnight, every appraiser was charged, convicted, and sentenced; all by one man. That's Power! It's time to step out of the Twilight Zone!"

So, What's Next?

This finally opens up discussion on this site for appraisers to talk about what's next from here for themselves and their careers!   I don't believe it's the death for all real estate appraisers, just those that rely 50% to 100% on lender work for their income.  I know appraisers like Frank Gregoire in FL that make a good living from non-lender work!  Most of those I know that are secure for the future of home appraising are either Appraisal Institute SRA's with a specialty or those appraisers who have already embraced appraising methods such as "Comp Cruncher"!   Appraisers: What are your plans for the future?

Thank you for your time! Bill Cobb

Appraisals always cause me to hold my breath, and they often surprise me... good and bad.
