Logo for Relay for Life ASCThe American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Greenbrier County will be on June 18, 2010,  at 202 Maplewood Avenue, Ronceverte, WV (Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Modlin Field) from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM.  Everyone is invited to join this event for an awesome evening - lots of entertainment and activities lined up for a whole night of honoring and remembering those affected by cancer.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.

Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.  Although every Relay For Life is different, there are certain traditions at all Relays, no matter where they are held. These traditions help participants celebrate, remember, and fight back.

Relay Schedule is:

Some of the nights scheduled events are bingo, dodge ball, exercise classes, live music, movie, dinner and breakfast.

There are 19 days left until the Relay.  At this writing there are 18 teams  and 144 participants that have entered and a total of $6,934.16 has been donated for cancer. The goal is $70,000 and we have a long way to go to meet the goal.  Go to the Relay page to signup for this event (start a team or join an existing team online) or to make an online donation.

My husband and I just lost a dear friend to brain cancer, Mike Windsor of Easton, Maryland.  I want to remember Mike and help fight cancer.  Are you a cancer survivor, have lost loved ones to this disease, and want to make a personal commitment to save lives by taking up the fight against cancer.........IF SO, please join us for the Relay for Life Event of Greenbrier County.

I just missed our local Relay For life in Murphy, NC while I was in Cocoa, FL. There isn't anyone who doesn't know someone whose life has been affected by cancer. Wishing your event much success.
