Wickham Park's Sensory Garden in Manchester CT is open! This new garden, designed to be accessible and enjoyed by all, is glorious.
With stunning pathways, arbors, sculptures, wind chimes, water feature, a miniature train track, and raised beds showcasing hundreds of different plants, the sensory garden will delight all the senses--sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.
I visited it for the first time today and was in awe. Not only is it beautiful but it is also educational. There are several stations with audio to describe each garden, pointing out each of the planned features.
With plenty of seating, one can sit back and take in the beauty as well as the whimsy.
Left in trust by the Wickhams, the original owners, the park has been lovingly maintained and expanded thoughout the years. The Wickhams would be proud to know that what they left for public enjoyment has, through careful planning, expansion, and maintenance, become truly a gem. This newest garden is testimony to their legacy and will be enjoyed by all for many generations to come.
