Memorial Day
In 2010 we work in an industry that has problems, our general economy is troubled at best, political unrest is high, and still we are so much better off than most of the world because we are free. In the worst of times we have it pretty good because courageous men and women faught for our freedom, some paying with their blood and their lives, others paying with lifelong nightmares and scars.
I thank all who have served. Whether the cause was noble or misguided makes no difference. Service isn't about politics or public opinion, it's about sacrifice for others in an imperfect world, in hopes of making it just a little better and keeping it from getting worse.
This country is a spectacular place to live. Sure, we have too many political hacks at all levels affiliated with all parties and philosophies, taking lightly and making a mockery of the blood of our heroes that bought the power we have as a nation to do right instead of wrong. Let not these imperfect people cause us, imperfect people ourselves, to be any less aware and appreciative of the heroes, living and not. They bought the best life for you and for me.
