Exporting Your Blog Posts... Make sure you work back to front using the WP bulk tool.
So here I am sitting in my PJs on the futon wondering why I assumed WordPress would automatically recognize the original time stamps of my exports and arrange my blog posts by date if I selected them in batches of 15 to do a bulk edit from draft to publish on CarolynTannStarr.com...
Big mistake (LOL). They are completely out of order...
I have approximately 264 (out of 962 available posts in draft) dated for May 31, 2010 (LMAO). You may find yourself reading about Thanksgiving and Christmas 2009 where the Summer of 2010 should be. My response? Destroy the menu, drop the pages, leave home up with the imported posts out of order and worry about importing more material tomorrow to make Winter go away (LOL). This is what I get for playing live, eh? Still building the site so it may get even more interesting as my coding errors grow (LOL). CSS is a beautiful thing if you pay attention.
Made a banner for it and I will be high-jacking Jessica and two more Club Chaos writers to populate that puppy. I need to go find some widgets to make life interesting for us while I figure out how to cross link all of our blogs back and forth while avoiding RSS hell. At least the RSS feed automatically kept the posts in chronological order on the sidebar... :-)
Tomorrow I am going to go find me a Dummy Guide for WordPress. I will need one for Moodle as well. I am building a Club Chaos Boot Camp site to mirror an on-line university classroom. The Moodle site has been driving me crazy because I am prone to crashing it. Moodle actually sent me a congratulations page for discovering an error. They want me to explain how I managed to uncover a bug. Too bad I wasn't paying attention when I accidentally destroyed a key module regarding assigning roles to users while I was dragging and dropping programming components into place (LOL). Now I can't log back into the project or answer them. Bummer...
I like being able to write here and send a few works over there. I opened the AR export file in Notepad (since the HTML is a huge text file) and had the plugin upload my saved version of the uncompressed text zip file. The AR Plugin works fine. My user error screwed the project up. Just figured you guys would want to know about the bulk edit date issue so you can start with your oldest selections first if you use the bulk edit option.
