Memorial Day!! The True Heroes!!
All of us have or at least know of someone that has served in the military or reserves here in this great country of ours. I have the honor of having a Dad (he has since passed away) and brother who have served honorably and still serve to this day. Have you ever noticed in your family there is one child who is just like one of your parents? My brother was/is that person. They both were in the service and they both worked at the US Post Office (my brother is a Postmaster). My dad was in the Korean War and my brother has done 3 tours of Iraq.
I remember a conversation with him years ago when he said “ People may not understand what I do but this is something I have to do”. It is in his blood. I am so very proud of him. He is such a giving person. Whenever we visit he opens his home to me and my family every time. Just like our dad. One of his quotes was “If I fed you more than twice you’ll start looking like me anyway”. His door was like going to the supermarket. It was always open as long as you brought respect to his house. Disrespect was not tolerated from anyone. Old school kind of guy. They were/are both great providers for their families. So as military men I salute the both of them. They are Heroes in my eyes. So honor the military people in your home and if you don’t honor that neighbor that may have one in theirs. It’s they (women and men) that protect our right to do the things that we do here. Yes the holiday is the beginning of most summer activities but it is so much more. Without them (soldiers) where would we be? Keep that in mind always. Not just for today.
