Giving Back to our Military in a Unique Way

I'm not military but I live in a city with several bases including Air Force Academy and Fort Carson and I respect what these men and women do for our country.  What small token of my appreciation can I do for them?  I'm a Realtor and have access to rental properties available here in our city.  I'm willing to take some time out of my busy schedule to show properties to our military families that arrive here and need to get settled quickly.

 military relocation to Colorado Springs

Not many Realtors would bother because yup it's mostly pro bono work.  If you are lucky you might get a finders fee but most property management companies have a plethora of excuses why they shouldn't pay you.  Not worth the hassle in my book and not why I'm doing it.

Although we have base housing there's not enough so our families are forced to look for options within the community.  Where do these families turn other than the overwhelmed volunteers on post?  I'm here and willing to give back. It's just my way of saying thanks to the men and women serving our country.  Have a happy and safe Memorial Day.

Another way to help those new military families arriving in the community would be to provide them with a welcome packet of information or newsletter from your local and personal perspective. This may be something those property management companies you mentioned do not provide. It sounds like your good intentions will make a difference.

Good thinking! I agree with Emily advertise through newsletter as well as a welcome packet.  Have a great week!

Emily:  Thanks for the input.  I do have a relo packet for the area but I find that the bases provide good information they just don't have resources to get our families inside of homes.  It takes time and since that is the need I'm willing to donate a few hours a month pro bono.

Lizette.  Great suggestion but I don't really feel the need to advertise for rental business.  It finds me!  Usually the phone call is quite desperate and I'm a sap, but they are so appreciative.
