Publishers are scrambling to put magazines onto the iPad platform right now.
And when they do, you'd think it would be cheaper than the print version... right? Wrong.
Starting in June (less than 12 hours from this post), Popular Science, Popular Photography, Sound + Vision, a gourmet magazine and a travel magazines are announcing iPad subscriptions.
In August, skateboard enthusiasts who love TransWorld Skateboarding will enjoy a digital version of the mag on iPad, too.
The price of Popular Science with a magazine subscription mailed to your home or office is $12 bucks. Amazon sells everything for less, so it's $10 bucks there. But a year of Popular Science on the iPad will set you back $29.95. Print is 83 cents per issue. But an electronic version will be $2.50 each month.
Yesterday, I consulted with a large Texas brokerage who wants to take their in house real estate guide and modernize it for the iPad. If I accept the job, I'll be off the market for a few months -- so all of you waiting for me to look at your broker agent website or social media software... sorry. You'll have to wait a bit longer.
While I cannot spill the beans on WHO is doing the move to the iPad just yet -- I can tell you this: This wasn't the only phone call I got like this over the past few months. I got a few calls from some big name California brokers asking for the same assistance. So it's going to be a trend.
The Real Estate BOOK is going to be reincarnated. It won't be coming back as ink on paper, but as one's and zero's on the Internet.
