In both your Customer Service and Literally!??
I have recently come to the conclusion that I'm not just a real estate broker who helps Homebuyers and Sellers in Morgan County Colorado. Just last week I found myself with showings in Aurora Colorado, followed by a final property walk through in Greeley Colorado and then back through Wiggins, Fort Morgan and on to Brush for a closing............ All before lunch time!!! The 4 hour trip got me thinking, what have I learned about real estate and is my business serving those around me including myself the best it can?
I love my career as it allows me to meet new people and learn new things, all while feeding my competitive nature. As I have expanded my business (and my driving time!) I've learned at least five important things, and I expect to learn more every day for the rest of my career:
1. Go out of your way to be the glue that keeps things together, it is easy to kill a deal, but hard to keep it together.
2. Treat your clients and colleagues with respect, and kindness. The growing referral base of clients you have treated with respect and kindness will most definitely have you running outside your normal area of business, or at a minimum keep the referrals to other brokers flowing.
3. Learn to manage your time so you can go out of the realm of your normal selling area; it is not only interesting to work in another area, you will also be surprised what you may pick up in the form of business practices and tips to make other deals go smoothly!
4. Every market is indeed different, if you don't know the area your working in, LEARN before you start showing the area, or pass the client on to a trusted broker in the area that can give the client the service they deserve and need.
5. Have fun, and make it a point to interact with the people around you, selling homes is as much about your interaction with the client as it is about being proficient and knowledgeable about a transaction.
