"Hello fellow adventurers! "
Asheville Real Estate Journal reports
Lookout! It's the Baby Boomers. And they are getting ready to head out soon! Are they looking for a second home?
This could be great news for all of us. With talent and lots of energy they are into "un-retirement", second homes, and quality of life- at least in Asheville(and, if you have what they want, in your town, too.)
Watch out, though, for Baby Boomers often are reported to be: Individualistic, defiant (rejecting rules,) pragmatic, but idealistic, raised with a sense of entitlement, and (you go gang!) unlikelyto be anything like the elderly of days gone by! !!! (four exclamation points for the BBs.)
What does all this this mean ?
Baby Boomers will start their "un-retirement" almost any day now, with the target date said to be 2012. What does this mean to all of us across the country? As a REALTOR, for me it means an exciting group of individuals with whom to collaborate, life stories waiting to be told, and many, many happy closings. You probably already know this, but possibly it bears repeating. How about for you?
The Congressional Budget Office reports, "... baby boomers typically have higher income. . .and have accumulated . .. private wealth. " So will they stay where they are? Will they look for second/vacation homes? Where will they go, these active lifestyle advocates with powerful means and they eye for creative pursuit?
My predictions: Baby boomers will blast into areas that offer an attractive quality of life and a relatively low cost of living. They will live, at least part of each year, in beautiful cities and towns like Asheville. NC. They will bring their wisdom to the community, and we all will have the opportunity to learn, grow and proper as a result.
